Music & Money Giving!

It was a great start to the morning for a whole host of children from across KS2 today as they started their day with a musical theme! Our final ‘Music Review’ of the year saw parents and other family members gather in the upstairs hall as they were entertained by the children. Supported by the wonderful Mr & Mrs Thompson, the timbrels group began the review with a routine before the audience was entertained by the KS2 choir. In between the choir performances, a range of pianists took to the piano and played their latest pieces before Ammabel rounded off the morning by singing a solo performance of ‘My Favourite Things’ beautifully. It was a fantastic way to start the day! Thank you to all of the parents for coming along and joining us. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Just before lunch, Mrs Heard, Mrs Bowden and Mr B accompanied members of the school council as they ventured out of school and visited Southend Hospital in order to present their fundraising team with the funds raised from the recent charity sponsored obstacle run. The council organised the whole event, designing the course and promoting it across the school. All of the children in school took part in the run and the event, alongside a 10% donation from each classes profits from the recent Economic Well Being Fayre, raised a staggering five and half thousands pounds! The team at the hospital were astounded by the amount raised and were happy to accept the cheque. Well done children, we are proud of you!

In the afternoon the downstairs hall played host to the latest of our transition meetings for parents, today for parents of children moving from Foundation Stage to Year One in September. Mrs Bowden gave a presentation for the parents about the year ahead before she was joined by the teachers in the year group next year who introduced themselves to the parents over a cup of tea. Thank you to all of the parents who joined us to say a quick hello, it was lovely to see you.
