It was a hot and busy day at Earls Hall again today as the children continued to get back into the swing of their routines following the Summer holiday.

As the teachers and teaching assistants from the Foundation Stage continued to carry out home visits to children joining their classes, the children in Year One made the most of the sunshine by taking part in continuous provision inside the classroom and in their outdoor area. Some of the children enjoyed riding on the scooters whilst others played in the mud kitchen, created structures with the wooden blocks or developed their skipping skills; all activities which they had previously enjoyed when in Reception. Meanwhile, the upstairs hall saw Mr Crooks give girls from across upper KS2 the opportunity to take part in trials to choose this years table tennis team.

It may have been a hot day but our farm animals still all needed looking after so groups of children from Elm and Beech both took part in tending to their needs. The children ensured that the goats, ducks and chickens all had fresh drinking water and food before they spent time giving them attention.

Upstairs, the children in Years Five and Six enjoyed some creative sessions. The children have been designing covers for their English books today. They have considered their favourite books and recreated the cover in a silhouette format. The background for their designs involved the children learning about and carrying out the process of marbling and each child created a unique piece of work which reflected their individual interests. Later in the day, the children in Sycamore took part in a science investigation where they experimented with a range of materials in order to see which was deemed to be the most absorbent.

At lunchtime, the team gathered in order to wish the lovely Miss Cracknell a very happy belated birthday. In order to mark the ocassion of her 30th birthday our much loved teacher was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Happy belated birthday Miss Cracknell!
