It was a fantastic end to our first full week back at school! The day saw us welcome our final group of new starters to our Foundation Stage classes and the children settled into their new surroundings in next to no time. Like all of the groups this week, the children got to know their teachers and teaching assistants before going on a tour of key areas of the school, visiting the animals and Mr B in his office. It was smashing to see the youngest classes finally full with everyone smiling throughout the morning!

The morning saw the PTA hold their first face to face meeting since the Covid outbreak and it was well attended with some new faces coming along to join in with the fun. The committee discussed their plans for up and coming events, which will take place in the coming months, and how to adapt them in light of the pandemic. Thanks to everyone who came along and gave their time.

As Mr B was thrilled by readers from Owls in his office, children in many classes enjoyed time reading for pleasure or applied their comprehension skills in groups.

Outside on the playground and out of the front of the school, the children in Year Two tested their paper aeroplane designs. Each child had designed their own series of folds in a bid to create a plane that would fly the furthest distance. Once initially tested, they adapted their designs in a bid to make their planes better and then tested them again to see if the changes made any impact.

At the end of the day the children in Sycamore enjoyed a dance lesson on the field whilst the children in Year One enjoyed taking part in continuous provision free flow activities inside and outside.
