It was a busy day for the children in Years Three and Four today as they were visited by the inspirational Mr Kemp! One of our favourite visitors, Mr Kemp joined each class for the next session of their popular ‘Keep on Reading’ scheme which saw the children begin the sessions by taking part in a series of games before asking them to recap what events have taken place in their class text since his last visit. The children shared their favourite aspects of their stories before grading the text between one and five. The scheme, which has been hugely supported by our lovely parents, sees the children being read to and, not only enhances the children’s comprehension skills, it promotes a love of reading for pleasure and aims to embed this as a life long trait. The children all enjoyed the sessions, thanks so much for giving us your time Mr Kemp.

Meanwhile, the wet and grey weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the children in Kites today as they took part in a fun Forest Friends session outside. The children worked in groups when rising to the challenge of creating large scale dens in which they could all fit to shelter from the weather. The children used their knot tying skills to perfection when securing tarpaulin with ropes and a great time was had by all.

As the children in Elm began constructing their own pop up pages, and the children in Aspen took part in a fabulous music lesson with Mr Hadley, the children in 6M composed a series of descriptive passages centred around the images of the Dunkirk landings.
