Jumping Jellybeans!

It was another exciting day at Earls Hall as the children in the Foundation Stage and Year One took to the field for their very first sports day! The children and parents all followed strict rules in order to keep within covid guidelines and even the spurts of drizzle didn’t dampen their spirits as they took to the track to compete in a series of exciting races. There were flat, obstacle, beanbag, egg and spoon and sack races galore across the day and parents even got involved in the fun by racing each other from within their own social gatherings of no more than thirty. the sessions ended with the children enjoying a well earned ice cream from out new machine and a great time was had by all. Thank you to all of our lovely parents for adhering to our guidelines so that everyone could enjoy the day.

Meanwhile, at the front of the school, the children in Elm enjoyed a Forest Friends session where they created their own games and then taught them to each other to play. They used guttering to direct balls around an obstacle route, created their own obstacle courses to follow and emphasised the importance of team work throughout. They also made their own damper bread which they cooked on the fire pit.

Over in the pool, the children in Rabbits and Dormice continued their swimming lessons, growing in confidence minute by minute, whilst the children in Year Five enjoyed another session with the coaches from Southend United where they not only investigated healthy and balanced meals but also took part in a game of dodgeball in the upstairs hall.

There was plenty of action in the downstairs hall today. Simon from ‘Rock Steady’ led another series of music sessions where the children played the electric guitar, keyboard and drums in a band setting and then, after school, Jack from ‘Star Sports’ hosted another multisports club.
