It was another proud day in school. The morning started with Mrs Critoph, one of our lovely Deputy Headteachers, leading a special assembly where children who had been spotted using fantastic manners at lunchtime were celebrated in our ‘Midday Manners’ assembly. The children had been heard consistently saying ‘please’, ‘thank you’, asking to leave the table politely or not talking with their mouths full and were given one of Mrs Critoph’s special stickers as a reward.

It was a busy day for Mrs Critoph as later in the morning she also welcomed groups of children from local pre-schools for a visit to the Foundation Stage with their key workers. The children, who are all starting with us in September and had previously visited school with their parents on Monday, played in the classrooms and were helped by our current Hedgehogs, Dormice and Robins to find the toys they wanted to play with.

As is her morning hadn’t been busy enough, later in the morning Mrs Critoph was joined by one of our new teachers, Mr Cann, in setting a group of children from Kites an ‘AOK Club’ mission. The children were challenged to wash the school mini bus in order to make it sparkle when other children use it. The children set to work with sponges and buckets of soapy water and before long the bus looked glorious. The children chatted to Mrs Critoph about how pleased they felt generously giving their time to carry out such an important job.

In the afternoon the downstairs hall was used as a meeting place for our latest transition meeting, this time for parents of children moving up into Year Three in September. Mr B talked the parents through what stays the same in Year Three as in Year Two as well as what changes take place. After the presentation the parents had the opportunity to meet the teachers teaching in Year Three next year over a quick cup of tea; Mrs Howard, Mr Martin and Mr Cann.

After school the upstairs hall was used to put on a fantastic end of term showcase courtesy of the children who take part in the KS2 ‘Steps Ahead’ club. The children performed an amazing version of the musical ‘Annie’ and dazzled the proud parents with their confident portrayals of the children. There were fantastic dances and wonderful acting performances. At the end of the show Laura, who leads the group,  and Mr B thanked the children for their hard work and Laura announced Olivia and Ruby as recipients of her end of year awards. Well done to all of the children, we are proud of you.
