It was a special day for some of the children in Year Six today as we presented this years House Captains and Head Boy & Girl with their roles. Earlier in the week, senior leaders of the school met and decided which children in Year Six would this year act as heads of their houses in recognition of the fact that they have been consistent role models over a number of years. There are two House Captains, a boy and a girl, for each of our historic houses; Arundel, Warwick, Norfolk and Oxford. Throughout the year the House Captains help the team monitor behaviour of the younger year groups and are on hand to act as role models to them should they need words of encouragement. In the morning the children were taken from class in order to receive the news of their appointment before using the phone in Mr B ‘s office in order to tell their proud parents. This year, Mia and Luke have been chosen as Head Girl and Head Boy and will represent the school to share our work when visitors come and see us as well as acting as role models to the other children. Mr B invited Mia and Luke’s parents into his office so that they could hear the news in person and to say that they were proud would be an understatement. Well done to all of our House Captains, Mia and Luke for their well deserved recognition, we are proud of you! Of course, exciting news such as this can bring disappointment to others in the year group but, whilst we would love to give everyone a badge, we were pleased that the children showed maturity with the understanding that there will be other ways to have their moment to shine throughout the year.

Later in the day, we held our usual ‘Celebration Assemblies’ where a child from each KS1 and KS2 class received this weeks ‘Earls Hall Stars’ certificate in recognition of individual effort and achievement. Well done to all of the children who received certificates this week, we are proud of you!
