It has been a busy couple of days at Earls Hall! Yesterday, two teams of children from KS2 represented the school at this years Southend table tennis competition, taking on teams from across the city at the tournament held at Alleyn Court. Both our boys and girls teams did the school proud. The girls team came joint third place whilst the boys took silver place and earned themselves a place in the Essex finals. Well done to all of the players who represented the school, we are proud of you!

This week also saw the vast majority of our clubs begin to take place. Whilst a group of children ventured out of school with Mrs Gorbutt and Mrs Collins in order to take part in the first session of horse riding club, back in school children from across KS1 enjoyed the first ‘Bricks 4 Kids’ session or took part in ‘Superhero Club’. The children dressed in their favourite superhero outfits, designed masks, played with action figures and then drew round each other in order to create a life sized superhero which they created with their imagination. It was a super fun club!

Today was a special day in school as the children in Foundation Stage enjoyed their first full day in school. The children have settled into their daily routines beautifully and today were introduced to the downstairs hall, where they were fed jacket potatoes, and the big playground. Our youngest children had the playground all to themselves as they explored the toys and games available for them to play with. It is lovely to have the classes so full of bright little learners who are all finding their feet, making new friends and pleasing their teachers.

In the afternoon, as the children in Sycamore completed their light box designs whilst the children in Badgers enjoyed a PE lesson on the playground and the Year Six investigated the Blitz, the Woodland Diner played host to the PTA ‘Welcome Tea’. Members of the committee welcomed parents who are new to the school and chatted to them about the work of the PTA. Thank you to everyone who came along.

The afternoon also saw us officially launch this years reading and times tables champions scheme. The children in Year Two were introduced to their times tables books for the first time which caused huge levels of excitement!
