Great Garden!

It was a special day at Earls Hall today as we officially opened our new fantastic sensory garden! The garden, situated over by the chickens and ducks enclosures, has been created over the past half term by parents from our ‘Allsorts’ SEND group who have worked tirelessly together in order to clear an overgrown piece of land and transform it into a wonderful interactive garden. Created entirely through fundraising and donations, the garden has shingled and stoned areas as well as interactive tools on the fences. Neurodiverse children will be supported by staff to use the area to help regulate themselves, benefitting not just individual children but also their friends in class. The garden sports a nest swing, mud kitchen and seating areas as well as a large lawn which children can relax on.

This afternoon, we were joined by the Deputy Mayor, Nigel Foulkard, who came to officially cut a ribbon in order to officially open the garden. Mr Foulkard gave a short speech and thanked the parents involved for their hard work and Mr B presented the team with flowers. The garden then hosted a fabulous puppet show, provided by ‘Party with Sid’, where a number of children from across the school were chosen to enjoy the show and explore the garden.

After school, the garden was open to everybody to explore and, as another puppet show took place, a raffle was held and fruit snacks were on sale raising over £400, with all profits raised going towards purchasing more SEND resources for school. Thank you to all of the parents involved in creating the garden and to all of the families who came along today to help launch it in style!
