The downstairs hall was full of parents of Foundation Stage children this morning, all eager to find out more about the curriculum and what techniques and strategies are used in school to teach our youngest pupils. The morning started with our Deputy Headteacher introducing the parents to the Early Years curriculum, and the key areas it covers, before the parents had the opportunity to explore some of the activities the children take part in alongside them in class. Miss Toms then continued the presentation back in the hall to finish off the morning. Thanks to everyone who was able to make it along to the session.

Meanwhile, out of the front of the school, the children in Year Two used their Forest Friends sessions to explore fireworks. With November the 5th fast approaching, the children got into the spirit of the season by creating their own fireworks out of natural materials which they foraged for in the school grounds. They created rockets by threading leaves onto sticks and Catherine wheels by arranging the sticks in a spiral or circle. Great fun was had by all as the children recreated the sounds and actions of the fireworks!

Later in the day a key group of staff undertook training where they learnt how to safely release passengers in the school lifts without the need for assistance from a call out company. The team took turns to follow the safety procedures on both of our hydraulic lifts which are used each and every day to ensure equal access to all areas of the school.
