It was another busy day at Earls Hall today! The day saw two groups of children taking part in Forest Friends sessions simultaneously. The children in Kestrels spent the day learning in the new ‘Forest Friends’ area at the back of the field. They investigated the area and hunted for clues that wildlife may have been there before playing a series of woodland games. Out the front of the school, in the original ‘Forest Friends’ area, the children in Hawks investigated floating and sinking by creating their own boats out of cork, twigs and rubber bands and also investigated fire by sparking a small flame against cotton wool and different sized dried twigs.

In Willow the children created their own Autumn pop art in the style of Roy Lichtenstein whilst the children in Oaks continued sewing their own underwater creatures. In the upstairs hall the children in Sycamore enjoyed a dance session before playing parachute games and investigating reversible and irreversible changes whilst the children in 6C continued to create their own shelters out of wood. They cut their wood to size, using a handsaw, before sanding the edges and securing them together with a glue gun.

Outside, in our new second cabin classroom, Mr Hadley worked with a group of children from Beech to develop their number skills whilst, at the front of the school, the children from Rabbits created their own obstacle courses out of large scale building blocks.

It was an exciting afternoon for the children in Hedgehogs as, on their way for an Autumn leaf walk, they visited the goats. A group of children petted the goats with Mr B as their friends watched from beyond the fence and Geraldine, Gordon and Gerald were delighted to entertain them!
