It was an eventful start to, what promises to be, another busy week at Earls Hall! The day saw the children in Badgers and Owls take on the roles of chefs for the day as they created their own delicious recipes for Mr B to eat for his lunch!
Having previously questioned Mr B about his preferences, and investigated healthy and balanced diets, the classes spent the morning preparing the various ingredients. Badgers peeled and juiced oranges as a drink before making a pitta pizza by slicing peppers and tomatoes, grating cheese and baking the pizzas. Owls created their own fruit smoothy by peeling and chopping bananas, slicing strawberries and spinach leaves and blending. They then created a main course of spaghetti bolognese by peeling and dicing onions, slicing mushrooms, peppers and caugettes before mixing the veg with low fat mince and tomato sauce in the slow cooker. For dessert the children prepared a healthy fruit salad. Mr B was invited into the classes to taste each dish and gave each of the meals a giant thumbs up!
In the afternoon the field played host to a football tournament between Earls Hall and our friends at Leigh North Street Primary and Chalkwell Juniors. The boys represented the school beautifully and played enthusiastically despite the wet conditions. There was a mixture of results with Earls Hall losing some, drawing some and winning some. Well done to all of the children who played, we are proud of you!
