FAB FOOTBALLERS!

What another fantastic day in school the children and staff have enjoyed!

Year Two enjoyed learning outside, using their ‘Forest Friends’ sessions to investigate Diwlai. The children hunted for natural objects around the forest and in the Kabin in order to create their own Rangoli patterns in groups. They created their patterns using leaves, corks, conkers, pine cones, shells and stones to create some stunning works of art! Meanwhile, in the Early Years garden, the children in the Foundation Stage classes used paint brushes and water to create patterns on the bricks, zipped up and down the path on scooters and even enjoyed a game of bat and ball.

It was another triumphant day of sport for the school as a team from Earls Hall took part in the Southend schools Football Tournament. This was the biggest tournament ever run by ssco with 30 schools participating.
There were 6 groups of 5 with the top 2 going through. In our group we played Friars winning 1.0, Temple Sutton losing 1.0, Porters Grange winning 3.0 and finally Blenheim winning 1.0. It was a very tough group with 3 Schools finishing very close together. We fortunately finished in 2nd place on Goal difference so would qualify to the next stage.
Again the team found themselves in a group of 5 with the opposition getting harder. First up was Fairways where we lost 1.0, next Leigh North Street winning 1.0, next it was St Georges who we beat 1.0 and last was Heycroft .0.0.
Fairways won the group and it was extremely close who else would qualify and we were lucky enough for it to be Earls Hall.
So we now found ourselves in the Semi Final against Fairways, This game was close with it finishing 0.0 then after a golden goal it was still 0.0….so now penalties. We scored our first 2 and then Dan saved 2 penalties and we won 2.1.
Now the final where Chalkwell awaited us…This was to be a re run of our semi final going all the way to penalties…..this went down to our 6th penalty taker and we just edged it 4.3 meaning Earls Hall were crowned champions of the tournament!
The boys played outstandingly throughout the day and now go on to represent Southend in the Essex finals on December the 1st! Well done on behalf of all of the school to Daniel,Sam,Seth,Archie,Josh,William,Harrison,Lewis,Billy and Mr Smith!

Meanwhile, back in school, the children in Aspen investigated the insides of their mouths by learning all about teeth whilst Oaks used the laptops to create their own Roman tile patterns. Willows also used the laptops, this time to research Greek pottery. The children used the internet to search for examples of pottery which they then sketched and wrote notes about in their books.

At the end of the day Mr B met with parents into the evening. At the meetings he enjoyed catching up with parents from Beech class and discussed the children and ways to improve our school over the coming year. The meetings were highly enjoyable and the perfect way to end a fantastic day!
