It was another busy day at Earls Hall! The morning started with a group of children from Woodpeckers tending to the goats. The children filled the hay feeders and gave Geraldine, Gordon and Gerald fresh water before having a stroke and play with our four legged friends. After that a group of children from Hedgehogs went over to the bird enclosures and fed the chickens and ducks. There was much excitement when they searched the duck house and found an egg which they brought back to class to share with their friends. There was more animal excitement as Mabel joined the children from Squirrels at playtime for a play and a cuddle.

The pool was a hive of activity as the children from Oak and Aspen enjoyed their swimming lessons with Mr Knight whilst, upstairs, the children in 6J used data from last weeks lung capacity experiment to plot their results in a scattergraph.

The children in Kestrels continued their work around the Egyptians by creating a wash background of an Egyptian landscape whilst , over in the Woodland Diner, Mr Dorn worked with a group of children from Hawks to develop their table tennis skills in a ‘Sport for Confidence’ session.

The children in Owls were taught how to sketch realistic portraits and created their own using pencils with some stunning results whilst the children in Squirrels used their Forest Friends session to create human outlines out of sticks foraged from the woods and face pictures out of natural objects. There was also time to play on the rope swing and to create their own perfumes out of flowers, grass and leaves.

At the end of the afternoon, Mr B was joined by a group of children from Foxes who helped him weed some of the raised beds around the playground. The children worked hard to clear the beds and learnt how important it was to lift the weeds by their roots to try and ensure they don’t grow back.
