There was a theme of democracy across the school today as many of the classes held votes in order to elect their school council representatives for the year ahead. In KS2 the children shared their manifestos at the front of their classes in a bid to be elected and there were lots of fantastic pledges made by candidates. Ideas included holding cinema nights, improving the outdoor environment and planting a memorial tree for the much missed Mr Kilpatrick.

In Year Four the children in Aspen and Oak were classifying animals from around the world whilst in Year One, following on from their work on Mrs Armitage and transport, Rabbit class were using the afternoon to make a block model of a rocket, junk modelling a bus and choosing to write their own stories. In Dormice, the children decided to celebrate one of the children’s birthdays by creating their own role play tea party in her honour and decorating the room with paper chains that they made in the creative area.

In the morning the children in KS1 enjoyed another singing assembly where they sang their favourite songs, accompanied by Mr B on his guitar, and included a series of actions which everyone could demonstrate. Later, also in the downstairs hall, the children in Year Two demonstrated their balancing skills in a fun PE lesson.
