The children in KS1 and Foundation Stage were faced with a challenge first thing this morning as they investigated the story of a mysterious diver!

The children were shown video footage of Deep Sea Dave, a mysterious diver who found himself washed up on an unknown beach. Dave had a bandaged head and was suffering from a severe case of amnesia, the result being that he was unable to remember the events from his recent past. In his bag he discovered a series of clues as to the adventures he had been on including some wood from what seemed like a shipwreck. He also found an intriguing bottle which he sent back to Earls Hall for the children to look at.

Mr Geach and Mrs Richardson talked to the children about the fact that the paper inside the bottle might contain details of the adventure that Dave had been on. they challenged the children to write their own story about Dave using the clues he had found on the beach to add detail. the children then hurriedly went back to class to plan their writing.

In the afternoon Badgers used the story of Dave as a stimulus to create deep sea art work, including pictures using oil pastels, paint and collage.

Meanwhile, upstairs in Hawks, the children investigated forces and identified pushes and pulls which they use in their everyday life. They worked in pairs to mime the various actions with the other children guessing what push or pull they were acting out.
