A* ASSEMBLIES!

Assembly is always a special time to come together and this morning was no exception. The morning started with the children in Foundation Stage and KS1 coming together to celebrate reading achievements.

The children were joined by school governor, Mr Spence, who had the special job of presenting our latest ‘Reading Champions’ with their badges, Parents and family members of children who had earned their gold badges were also present as the whole hall congratulated them on their achievements.

Later in the morning, in the upstairs hall, Mr B led the first of four assemblies focusing on bullying. The children identified what constitutes bullying in all its various forms before watching a short video clip which focused on types of bullying which are perhaps not so obvious such as excluding other children from activities or talking about them unkindly just within their hearing in order to make them feel uncomfortable. The children identified what they could do when they become aware that this is happening to someone else, such as informing an adult in school.

Later in the day Elm were investigating the work of archaeologists using an online programme whilst Beech developed their grasp of the French language whilst forecasting the weather.

In owls the children created stunning works of art by creating pictures of underwater creatures using oil pastels whilst Dormice played a circle game using shoes to match pairs!
