It may have been a windy day but that didn’t stop a whole host of children representing Earls Hall brilliantly at the Southend inter-schools cross country event today! the children have been training for the past few weeks in order to prepare for the event and today all of their efforts came to fruition as each and every one of them did the school proud on the course. Seventy two children from across both KS1 and KS2 took part, each challenging themselves to beat their personal bests. Some of the top results will be published in the newsletter on Sunday. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Meanwhile, as the children in 6M used their science lesson to create their own periscopes and the children in Oak developed their football skills on the field, the children in Aspen took part in a challenging Forest Friends session. Working in teams, the children were challenged to make a tower that stood independently and held a bottle of water for thirty seconds using only a few bits of string and some sticks. The challenge saw the children have to share their ideas and develop their negotiation skills in order to succeed and there were some great results on display!

As the children in 6CW investigated online safety in the computer suite and the children in Dormice enjoyed role playing with some cardboard boxes, the children in Year Two used their sketch books again. The children watched a demonstration of how to create observational sketches without removing the pencil from the paper. The children were then challenged to create their own and rose to the task brilliantly, creating some magnificent images of leaves and models using one continuous line.
