It was a very special day at Earls Hall today as the children enjoyed the most special meal of the school year- Christmas Dinner in School! Mrs Warren-Hardy and her merry crew were in the kitchen at the crack of dawn in order to prepare a magnificent feat of turkey, or quorn, and all the trimmings. Eating to the backing track of Slade, Wizard and all the other classic yuletide tracks, the children enjoyed crackers and were served their meals by teachers and teaching assistants. A great time was had by all and a great shout of thanks was given to our team of cooks in recognition of their hard work. Thank you ladies!
Throughout the day there was more excitement outside in the ‘Forest Friends’ area as the children from Foundation Stage and KS1 took part in camp fire sessions. Mrs Mellish and Miss Chandler hosted each class in turn where the children enjoyed toasting marshmallows, drinking hot chocolate and singing camp fire songs.
In the evening the playground was full of families and staff enjoying the festivities as the community came together in order to take part in our annual ‘Carols Around the Tree’ celebration. The Southend Band played their way through a series of carols as parents and children sang along and the youngsters took turns to conduct the band as they played. There was mulled wine, hot chocolate and crepes on offer and the evening came to a stunning climax as the children were showered by the snow machine. It was a fantastic evening, thanks to everyone who came along to join in the fun.
