It was a creative day for the children in Kestrels today as they used some savoury snacks to create an iconic structure! Working in pairs, the children were tasked to carefully read and follow a set of detailed instructions on how to make a replica of Stonehenge, the only challenge being that the historic landmark was to be created entirely out of cheese puffs and soft cheese spread! It was a tricky task and one which needed teamwork and strong communication skills but by the end of the session there were some fantastic end results, even if the classroom itself smelled like the inside of a packed lunchbox!

Meanwhile, in Year Two, the children continued to create their own non-fiction books based around the life and work of Florence Nightingale. They used the facts which they had discovered to create a fitting front page which would reflect the contents.

In the upstairs hall, the children in Year Five were joined by representatives from Southend High School for Boys who explored algorithms through a series of practical activities whilst, outside, Miss Kelly was joined by children from Foxes in order to look after the animals.

As Mr Gordon worked with children in small groups in order to boost their confidence through sport and Mr Crooks took Beech for PE outside, the children from Squirrels enjoyed a library session and the children from Owls used a map of the world to plot the journey of Florence Nightingale.
