There was plenty of outdoor fun taking place at Earls Hall today as the children in Kites and Badgers enjoyed the fresh air in their Forest Friends sessions. The sessions were focused around the theme of birds. The children studied a range of birds nests and identified what they were made of and how the birds had created them. They then worked in groups to scavenge for materials suitable to make their own nests before working as a team to create them on both a small and large scale. Some of the groups made nests big enough for the whole group to fit in!

Meanwhile, upstairs in 6M, the children continued to investigate the events of World War II by leading their own enquiries into the past. In pairs and groups the children composed a series of questions which they wished to answer so that they could gain a deeper understanding of what life was like for people living through the war and then, using a variety of sources, they worked together to answer their own questions. Each group chose a different aspect of life in order to compose their questions and, once they have completed their research, will feed back their findings to the other groups so that the whole class can gain an overview of life in the era.

As Miss Kelly worked with a group of children from Rabbits who helped her look after the animals, the children in Sycamore formed some conclusions based on their friction investigation. After school more children from KS1 enjoyed following instructions in order to create fantastic models in the ‘Bricks 4 Kids’ club.
