Cabin Crew on the Coast!

It was a busy day for the children in the Cabin today as they ventured out of school in order to enjoy a day of adventure at the beach! Supported by their familiar members of staff, the children were joined by our ‘Coastal Schools’ trained teacher Mrs Mellish in order to take part in a range of activities at the beach. The children investigated the habits and habitats of some of the creatures found in the water and sand and compiled a range of adjectives to describe some of the features of the coast such as sand and seaweed based on what they looked, smelled and felt like. There was time to go crabbing in the shallow waters, skim stones, build sandcastles and create large scale pieces of art using the natural resources. Coastal School activities are holistic and share the philosophy of Forest Friends by allowing the children the freedom to learn through play and exploration. It was a fantastic day which all of the children and staff enjoyed!

Meanwhile, back in school, a group of children from 6C spent time looking after the farm animals. They ensured that the goats enclosure was clean and tidy before giving food and water to the ducks and chickens, collecting their eggs and giving the birds a cuddle whilst they were over there.

It was a special day for the children and team in the Foundation Stage as they celebrated the fiftieth birthday of the lovely Miss Marshall. The children gathered outside on the grass to celebrate with our much loved HLTA, serenading her with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’. Miss Marshall was also treated at lunchtime by all of her friends in the staffroom. Happy Birthday Miss Marshall! There was more excitement in Hedgehogs as the children were visited by the school guinea pigs for the afternoon. Miss Scarlett taught the children how to care for Popcorn, Saffy and Lilac and lots of the children enjoyed a cuddle with our furry friends.
