It was a good day for the ducks today as the rain steadily showered over the school throughout the day. The children in Robins didn’t give the rain a second thought as some of them still went onto the canopy area to play whilst others investigated real life robots in the classroom! The children were introduced to the Bee-Bots, a small programmable toy in which the children were able to input a sequence of instructions. They learned some directional language such as forward, backwards, left and right and explored the bee bots with their friends by trying to match the movement it made to the directional language they had chosen. They drew lines and  gave the bee bot directions to follow the lines using the buttons. The children discussed why they had to plug the bee bots into the plug afterwards and learned a bit about electricity, coming up with other objects than need electricity to work.

Still down in the Foundation Stage, the children in Hedgehogs continued to learn all about Chinese New Year. Some of the children decided to make their own dragons as individuals whilst others made a long one out of a cardboard box which they the used to dance in.

Meanwhile, as the children in 6CW created beautiful music in the form of a class performance on the glockenspiels, the upstairs hall played host to a benchball lesson as the children in Willows competed against each other. Working as a team, the children had to try and throw the ball to their team mates and catch it successfully until each member of the team stood proudly on the bench. It was an exciting end to the afternoon.
