It was another busy day at Earls Hall! The children in Badgers continued their work on the Great Fire of London by creating houses from the city out of cardboard boxes. They covered the boxes in paper and decorated them by painting wooden beams on them before accessorising the roof of each house with straw to recreate a thatched finish. The children will use the houses next week to recreate the city and the events of the actual fire itself.

Meanwhile, the children in Elm once again spent time over at the allotments in groups. They picked some more lettuce and peas from the garden before visiting the goats.  In DT the children then used shapes to create their own individual nets of a long house.

There were more animal visits taking place throughout the morning as a group of children from Owls visited the goat enclosure where they topped up the feeding trays with fresh hay and changed the animals water before skimming the duck pond for fallen leaves with nets.

In the afternoon, as the children in Robins enjoyed a library session, the children from Sycamore developed their rounders skills whilst the children in Woodpeckers used large scale building blocks to create their own ships in the gardens.

Throughout eh day the KS1 playground played host to a series of meetings for the parents of the new Foundation Stage children joining us in September. Unlike the usual meeting for the year group in the hall, this year we held three meetings, one for each class, outside in order to work within the covid restrictions. The parents  heard key parts of information before taking a tour of the outside areas of the school. Thank you to everyone who came along!
