Thank goodness the sun was out again in force today! The change in weather provided the perfect conditions for the children in Year Six as they went outside onto the field and playground for a fun PE session. The children developed their throwing and catching skills before practising their tennis techniques, first as individuals and then with partners. The children ended the session with a rally of batting where they each took turns with rackets at pace!

There was more activity back inside as the children in 6C investigated weight, length and capacity whilst the children in the Foundation Stage enjoyed playing outside in the Early Years garden. Some children in Hedgehogs grouped together and made their own band by making their own percussion instruments out of pots and pans whilst others played in the sand pit.

Whilst beautiful music was being made in the youngest classes, Mrs Thompson worked with the children in Badgers to investigate rhythm and pulse using parts of their body and percussion instruments.

Meanwhile, outside, the children in Foxes and Owls enjoyed a shelter themed day in their Forest Friends sessions. They worked in teams to forage sticks, logs and shrubbery in order to create dens for small toys before using similar techniques in order to make dens large enough for themselves to fit in. They were challenged to use items such as rope and tarpaulin to create shelters strong enough to withstand a storm.
