It was a great day for the ‘AOK Club’ today as a group of children from across Year Six delivered our Harvest donations to the Southend Foodbank. The children filled up the minibus with dozens and dozens of bags, all filled with tinned and dried goods, and then took them to the main Foodbank on Southchurch Road with Mr B and Mrs Patrick. At the centre the children were greeted by Simon, who run the Foodbank, and after they unloaded the goods they were given a tour of the various rooms where they were shown how the centre works. The children found out that over 50,000 boxes of food are organised each year and distributed throughout the various collection hubs across the town as well as the various reasons why so many families need to use the Foodbank in the first place. All of the children showed a great interest in their work and asked a series of great questions. Thank you to Simon for giving us your time. Well done children, we are proud of you!
Meanwhile, back in school, the children in KS1 were treated to a great start to the morning as they were entertained by our beginners recorders group. The children performed a series of tunes which they have learnt over the past four months. The children in the audience were very impressed. Well done children, we are proud of you!
After school the Woodland Diner played host to the second night of our fantastic book fair where there were lots of brilliant offers on display. The fair runs from the diner after school all week. Thanks to everyone who came along.
In the evening the downstairs hall was full of festive family members who had gathered together in order to take part in the first of our two nights of PTA Christmas wreath making. Mrs Sale demonstrated the art of creating the wreath and the parents all made their own in a fun and social atmosphere. Thanks to everyone who came along and joined in the fun!
