The cold and icy weather proved to be an inspiration for learning for the children in Dormice today! After discussing the frost which they saw on the way to school in the morning, the children investigated the ice which they found in the early years garden. The children discovered that the ice was once water and so made a range of potions in pots, mixing and adding things which they found in the creative area of the classroom with water, in order to leave them outside over night to see what happens to them by the morning.

Meanwhile, as the children in Year Four took turns to investigate the water cycle, the children in Beech took to the playground in order to develop their hockey skills. It may have been cold but, wrapped up in outdoor togs, the children used their sticks to improve their control of the balls and developed their passing skills.

After school, as more families visited the book fair, the children in Strawberry Kitchen cooking club created their own edible Christmas decorations. Around the school there was much merriment as the teachers worked in teams to decorate the various trees which had been purchased for school by our fantastic PTA. By the end of the day the school looked lovely and festive, ready for the seasons celebrations to begin!
