It was a fabulous start to the new week for the children in Years One and Two as they were treated to some smashing storytelling sessions by master storyteller; Charlie Wilson.
Charlie came in to tell a story to the Year one children about the Honeymouse followed by another story retell for the Year Two classes called ‘The Rabbit and the Sky Goddess’. He engaged the children by including repeated phrases, songs with instruments and actions; even entertaining the children by strumming his trusty guitar. It was lovely to see so many children volunteer to stand up in front of their classes and play the roles of characters within the story. Some children even had their own dialogue, which they delivered with fantastic confidence and expression. Afterwards the children discussed what they liked best about Charlie’s storytelling style.
Thank you to our PTA for funding the morning; the latest in a long line of curriculum enrichment activities.
Later in the day Mr B was joined at the centre table at lunchtime by children who he had spotted displaying wonderful manners. It was noted that the children were also willing to try part of the lunch which they had not tried before. Well done children, we are proud of you!
