There was a sense of celebration in the air this morning as the children gathered in both key stage assemblies to hear all about the festival of Eid al Fitr which marks the end of the Ramadan month of fasting. Miss Ellacott and Mrs Cheema explained that Eid officially begins when the moon is sighted, which this year was on Thursday night, and that the word itself means ‘happiness’. The children heard how Muslim families gather together to share their favourite foods and wear their very best outfits for the special occasion. Miss Ellacott was then assisted by a host of children who had celebrated the festival with their families at the front of the hall who told the children how they had celebrated and showed off their amazing outfits. Mrs Cheema also wore her Eid outfit and explained to the children about some of the traditions of the festival. Thank you to all of the children who helped make the assembly so special.

Later in the day, the downstairs hall was once again throbbing with the sound of music as Phil from the ‘Rock Steady’ workshop team worked with more children in order to develop their skills on the various instruments in a band setting whilst, down in the Foundation Stage, some children decided to create their own performances for their friends by grabbing the pretend microphones and singing.

Outside, in the nature garden, we were once again joined by Miss Drew and Koda the therapy trained dog who came to listen to children from Squirrels read. Thanks, as always, to Miss Drew and Koda for your time.

On the field, Mr smith put the children from Beech through their paces on the running track whilst the children in Badgers enjoyed another swimming lesson in the pool and Mr B listened to children from Robins read.
