The sun shone down upon Earls Hall today as the children took part in one of the most exciting events of the year, our annual ‘Sports Day’!

The morning started with the children from across KS2 competing against each other in a series of round robin events. the children had to use a range of skills to earn points for their houses including throwing, jumping and dribbling and the competition was fierce. Mr B and Miss Ellacott updated the children on the scores as the morning progressed with the leading house changing several times as the scores came in. The children were representing either Warwick, Oxford, Norfolk or Arundel and were dressed in their respective house colours.

The children then took part in a series of flat relay races before the toddlers,teachers, men and women all had a go competing against each  other. The morning ended with a host of competitors, both children and adults taking part in a tug of war competition!

At lunchtime the field was full of hundreds of families all enjoying a family picnic together. The field was a sea of colour as parents and other family members all enjoyed the sunshine. At the microphone Mr B was joined by Mrs Linda Taylor who came to present two awards presented each year to children in KS1 in the name of her late husband, and former chair of governors, George Taylor. The recipients this year were Maisie-Rose for the kindness she continually shows towards other children and Harley for the increase in his confidence since the Foundation Stage. Mrs Taylor explained how much George loved Earls Hall and how proud he was of the school.

Mr B was then joined by our current chair of governors, Mr Stanton, who came to present the new ‘Governor Award’. Mr Stanton presented the award to Larissa for her amazing work in the field of performing arts and to Finnean for remaining focused on his school work whilst his brother was ill with cancer.

In the afternoon it was the turn of the children in the Foundation stage and KS1 and the children competed in a series of races including the egg and spoon and sack. Once again there was a chance for the parents to race against each other with a range of talents being seen on the track!

At the end of the afternoon the whole school gathered on the field to find out which house had earned the most points throughout the day. Arundel came in fourth place with 2310 points, Warwick in third with 2570 points, Oxford in second with 2600 points and the winning house was crowned as Norfolk with an amazing 2690 points! Well done to the whole team!
