It was a great start to the week in school today! The morning started with our KS1 assembly where Mrs Critoph used a ‘Philosophy 4 Children’ approach by asking the children whether it was ok to have a teapot as a pet. The question sparked much debate throughout the hall as the children questioned individual choice and posed plenty of philosophical questions. Later, in the KS2 assembly, Miss Ellacott focused on rising to new challenges, providing plenty of real life examples.

The children across Year Two had a busy morning. First of all, in maths, they used Numicon to identify equivalents of number sentences. Later, they all gathered in the hall where a strange assortment of artefacts had been left. They read a letter from Grandpa Wolf who explained that they all belonged to him. He challenged the children to think about what each item was used for in the past and to compile questions to help answer their questions back in the classroom.

In the afternoon, 6J took part in Bikeability sessions on the playground whilst Beech continued making rockets. Today they designed and made electrical circuits to make propellers turn and bulbs light. They stripped back wires and connected them together independently. In 6C the children sketched self portraits and then labelled them in French.

After school the field was full to the brim with inflatables as the PTA held their ‘Inflatable Fun’ session. Children flooded the field wearing £5 wristbands as staff and parents manned the attractions. It was a successful couple of hours raising around £600 towards PTA funds. Thanks to everyone who helped at the event or supported  it.
