Thursday proved to be a thrilling day across the school as all the classes enjoyed a full and fun day of learning!

The day started with us welcoming the latest of our new Foundation Stage children into class. The children spent the morning playing alongside their new friends, getting to know key areas of the school and interacting with the adults who are responsible for them. There was a smashing atmosphere across the whole of the Foundation Stage and everyone had a fun morning.

Our KS1 assembly this morning focused on the importance of honesty. Mr B was helped by a group of enthusiastic volunteers to act out the story of the boy who cried wolf. The audience discussed the implications of the boys dishonesty and agreed that it is always important to tell the truth.

In Year Two the children continued to investigate the strange happenings taking place in Fairytale land. They used the Pie Corbett ‘Talk to Write’ strategies to retell the story of the big bad pig and the three wolves, a twist on a familiar tale, and then planned their own individual versions in the form of a story mountain.

With the sun shining so brightly at lunchtime the children from across both key stages took the opportunity to play on the various pieces of play equipment and the adult supervisors were thrilled by how well all of the children took turns on each piece.

In the afternoon Mr Gheorghe was assisted in the nature garden by three well behaved Year Six children. The children picked litter which had blown into the area and weeded the planters leaving it in a fit state for children from across the school to use. Mr B was so pleased with the end result that he immediately heard two Year One children read in the garden!

The afternoon  also saw Foxes develop their throwing and catching skills, Year Four research Anglo Saxon settlers and Year Five design their own rockets with some stunning results being produced.

After school there was a meeting of the full governing body. At the meeting Mr Stanton was re-elected as chair for the year, supported by two elected vice chairs- Mrs Ham and Mr White.
