It was a busy start to another fun week at Earls Hall! The day saw the first of our Year Four classes, our Oak chioldren, set off for their two day and one night residential trip to Wat Tyler park. Once at the park the children settled into their new surroundings and enjiyed a fantastic lunch of cottage pie. One of the aims of the trip is to help develop our Earls Hall qualities so, agfter the meal was finished, children took on the responsibility of clearing the plates away, washing and drying the crockery and even hoovering the dining room. In the afternoon the children took part in a series of team challenges around the park before creating their own kites and testing in them in the open fields. After a hearty dinner, the children took part in a night walk before settling back in their residential building and preparing for a nights sleep.

Meanwhile, as the children in the Foundation Stage used their Forest Friends session to create and test various houses for the three little pigs and the children in Kites tested the strengths of magnets, the children in Year Five were able to experience life at secondary school for the day as they visited King Edminds School. At the school the children were assisted by staff and pupils from KES to take part in a range of Jubilee activitoes. They took part in a drama workshop where they acted out scenes from the coronation, followed instructions in order to make their own crowns, solved a royal history themed puzzle and decorated stones in their own chosen style. It was an enjoyable day and all of the children behaved beautifully. Thank you to our friends at KES for hosting the day for us.

There was more royal work taking place back at school as the children in Year Six began investigating the Tudors by studying their family tree. The children identified individuals from the time and then used information books and the internet to research their lives and places in history.
