Woods & Witches Tales!

It was a busy day for some of the governors of Earls Hall today as they spent time investigating and monitoring aspects of our curriculum. The morning saw our curriculum committee meet with our Deputy Headteacher’s where they discussed some key threads of our school improvement plan and how actions are impacting children’s learning across all classes. After the meeting the governors stayed for lunch before spending the afternoon seeing the curriculum in action for themselves as they ventured on a tour of the school, guided by our new Head Boy and Head Girl. It was a full day of support for the school, thank you to all of our governors who came for giving us their time.

Meanwhile, as the children in Foundation Stage enjoyed a fabulous Forest Friends session where they foraged in the woods for sticks, leaves and any other natural objects that they could find before using their treasures to create their own models and tools, the children in Year Two investigated the tale of Hansel and Gretel. The children were introduced to the story by working as a team to follow a series of clues in the woods which, when put together to find out the answer, revealed the story that they would be studying. They then made inferences about what may happen in the story if they were unfamiliar with it before thinking of ideas of how to help the characters. Later in the day the children spent time in the downstairs hall enjoying a circus themed PE lesson!

Upstairs the children in Year Six continued to work through the theme of rivers by creating some inspirational poems based on the topic.
