The weather may have been variable today but that didn’t stop the children from Kites taking Mabel, the school dog, for a walk this afternoon. The children took our four legged friend around the block and acted as sensible and responsible owners in order to ensure that she stayed close to them and remembered her training. Mabel and the children all enjoyed themselves and she enjoyed being rewarded for her clam behaviour.

Meanwhile, in Kestrels, the children enjoyed investigating weight using sets of balance scales. They predicted, compared and measured the weights and worked as teams to find equivalents.

In the Foundation Stage there was plenty of activity both indoors and outside. In the Early Years garden the children enjoyed developing their gross motor skills by rolling tyres as individuals and pairs, making volcanoes in the sand pit and taking part in exercises on the path. Inside, in Hedgehogs, the children decided that they were interested in the Tooth Fairy as lots of the children had wobbly teeth. The children used junk modelling in order to create their own fairy houses, wrote letters to the fairy telling her all about their teeth and role played leaving their teeth below their pillows and acting out what the fairy might do with them.
