It was a day of Design Technology delights today at Earls Hall! The children in Elm, inspired by their underwater themed learning, had each designed a creature to create and had drawn an outline as a basis for the finished piece. Today they pinned the outline onto felt and carefully cut round it ready to sew it together, stuff it and decorate it with a host of accessories. The concentration levels in the room were out of this world as the children each focused on ensuring their shapes were as accurate as possible.

Meanwhile, down the corridor, the children in 6M continued to put the finishing touches to their wooden shelters. They carefully used the glue gun to construct the roof and cut the thin reeds to size, wrapping them around their structures, before securing them on safely.

In the downstairs hall the children in Foxes enjoyed a PE lesson where they developed their team work skills by becoming one continuous elephant and taking part in a series of challenges. They had to communicate clearly with each other to carry out tasks such as picking up cones with their trunks without letting go of each other.

In the morning, the children in Year One ventured out of school in order to take part in a walk of the local area. The children identified landmarks, such as road signs and key buildings, and took photos of them before deciding whether they were human or physical features. Later in the week the children will use their walk in order to write a recount of their journey.

At the end of the day some more children from Year Three popped over to the Cabin in order to meet Popcorn, Lilac and Saffy. Our Guinea Pigs loved having a cuddle and are very comfortable in their new surroundings now.
