Triumphant Table Tennis Teams!

It was an incredibly busy day at Earls Hall today full of lots of highs! Today saw the start of our table tennis journey for the new academic year as both our boys and girls teams took part in the Southend tournament. In the boys group there were seven schools competing in total and the boys won all of their matches 4-0. In the girls group there were five other schools to play against with our teams winning three matches and drawing two. Both teams were once again crowned Southend champions for the fifth consecutive year! Well done to all of our players, we are so proud of you! Both teams will now go through to the Essex finals in Harlow on 9th November.

Meanwhile, back in school, a group of children from Year Six ventured out of school in order to take part in the Shakespeares school Festival at the Palace Theatre. the children took part in a company acting workshop with professional actors Hannah and Tom. They developed their characterisation and acting skills and started piecing together scenes as a group. It was a fun morning, well done to all of the children who took part.

At lunch Mr B was once again joined by a group of children at the centre table who had been identified as displaying excellent manners. Mrs Warren-Hardy was particularly pleased with the children from Year Two today as they all tried her curry and there were plenty of clean plates at the end of service left by the grateful diners. In the infant hall Miss Scarlett also joined the children to eat whilst Mrs Matteuicci dined with the children in the dining hall.

Out the front of the school the children in Year Two took part in ‘Forest Friends’ sessions where they worked in teams to build dens and create works of art out of rocks and bits of wood. Later, in the afternoon, Mrs Mellish, Mrs Simpson and Miss Chandler ventured out of school with a group of children in order to take part in a ‘Beach Schools’ activity at Southend seafront. The children made jewelry out of seashells and works of art out of feathers and rocks. It was a fun first session!

Back in school, the children in 6C continued their Bikeability sessions where they developed their ability to signal whilst cycling whilst the children in Willow enjoyed a ‘Fun Swim’ session over in the pool as a reward for their year group having the highest attendance over the course of the year last year.

After school the Year six classrooms had their new LED interactive whiteboards installed whilst Mr B met with parents from Kites. Thanks to everyone who came along for a catch up.
