It is not of ten that Sunday brings much school excitement but today was definitely the exception when four boys from Year Six represented Earls Hall at the South Regional Table Tennis Finals, held at Bristol.

The team took part in the competition due to their triumph as Essex champions earlier in the year and as such took on three other schools in the under 11 competition.

The boys played for an exhausting seven hours in total, competing against Chalfont St Peter Academy from Buckinghamshire, Okehampton Primary from Devon and Ashburnham Primary from Chelsea.

Cheered on by Mr Smith and Kieran, the team coaches, as well as their parents and Mr B, the boys played tremendously well and were focused throughout the tournament. They were up against some stiff competition as the tournament was made up of other champion teams but oiur boys really piut them through their paces, often taking five games each match to decide the winner.

At the close of play Earls Hall came third having lost 2-6, won 5-3 and lost 3-5 and meaning that the team ranks in the top twelve for their age range nationally. It was a gripping day and the boys had every reason to be incredibly proud of themselves for their stunning performances throughout the competition.
