It was a very busy day for Earls Hall today as children had fun both in school and away from home! As the morning began, the children in Oak woke up having spent their first night away on a school residential. Having spent the night at Wat Tyler Country Park, they started their day with a hearty breakfast before setting off for a second day of activities. Throughout the day the children took part in team challenges, visited some of the historic cottages situated in the park and even had a go on the mud slide! It was a jam packed day and the children were a delight throughout the whole trip!

Meanwhile, the children in Year Two also ventured out of school as they spent the day enjoying the wonders of Barleylands farm! At the farm the children enjoyed a tractor ride in the grounds, went into the enclosures to learn all about the various animals kept on the farm which some of them enjoyed feeding. One of the highlights of the was when the children went in the new feeding barn where they got to stroke a baby kid and saw the other kids that had just been born. In the afternoon the children were given a talk about how wheat and other crops are grown on the farm that help to make the food that we eat such as pizzas, pasta, cereals. They then got to make their own pizzas! It was a great day, thank you to all of the parents who came along to join in with the fun!

Back in school, it was the end of an era for the swimming pool as we said a fond farewell to Mr Knight after six years working as our swimming teacher. Mr Knight is leaving us in order to train in the police force and we all think that he will make a fantastic officer. As he said his goodbyes to the children, friends and colleagues, he was presented with a leaving gift to wish him well in his new adventures. We are very proud of you Mr Knight and wish you well in the future. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Throughout the day we held our ‘Celebration Assemblies’ where we presented a child from each class with our ‘Earls Hall Stars’ certificates in recognition of their individual effort and achievement. We also presented badges for our ‘Reading Champions’ and times table effort. Well done to all of the children presented with certificates and badges in assembly, we are proud of you!

At the end of the day, as the children in 6CW enjoyed a basketball lesson out on the sunny playground, this weeks ‘Learning Ambassadors’ met with our chair of the governing body, Mr Stanton, in order to tell him all about the learning which has taken place across the school over the past week. Mr Stanton was incredibly impressed by how articulate the children were when discussing their learning, answering questions about the skills which they had used and the knowledge that they had gained. Well done children, we are proud of you!
