The first day of the new half term had a theme of cooking! The morning began with the children learning all about Shrove Tuesday in assembly before the children in the Foundation Stage all took turns in creating their own pancakes in the kitchen. The children worked in teams to take turns flipping the pancakes with mixed results!

Meanwhile, throughout the day there was more pancake action as groups of children ventured out of school in order to take part in the pancake challenge at St Peter’s Church. the tea at the church, which included our very own Mrs Russell, supported the children to create the mix, cook it and then flip it before adding toppings of their choice. The aim of the day was to raise money for ‘Christians Against Poverty’ and a great time was had by all. Thank you to all at the church for letting us join in with the fun!

Up in Year six the children were using books to independently research the blitz whilst the children in Willow investigated the wider role of a church. In Oak the children were investigating teeth whilst in Beech the children were busy sewing their willow patterns. In Robins the children were interested in badges and spent time throughout the day making their own for a range of occasions meaning that by the end of the day Mrs Anderson was covered in a range of lovely badges!

After school we held our first ‘Cook Stars’ club where the children had a fantastic time. They were amazing at weighing, measuring, mounding and kneading to create some savoury cheesy biscuits!
