There was plenty of activity in school today, both indoors and outside. The children in Kestrels enjoyed a creative afternoon as they made their very own mammoths using an old milk bottle! The children carefully cut the milk bottle in half in order to create the basic shape of the creature, where the handle formed the shape of the trunk, before creating the wooly fur of the creature by sticking various shades of brown paper and pieces of wool onto it. The mammoths were similar but all had a little unique aspect to them as each child worked as an individual.

Meanwhile, downstairs in the hall, Phil from the ‘Rock Steady’ workshop visited school again in order to teach children from across KS2 techniques on the keyboard, drums and electric guitar whilst outside on the field the children in Elm took part in a fun game of tag rugby despite the cold weather!

Wrapped up warm at the front of the school, the children in Year One enjoyed a fun ‘Forest Friends’ session. The session saw the children use loppers, take part in a treasure hunt and even make a stretcher from branches, sticks and rope!

At lunchtime Mr B and the team of teachers from Elm were joined by a group of specifically chosen children whose manners had been spotted as excellent. Mrs Cockett and Mr Brasted joined the children at the long tables where they chatted and also looked out for more wonderful manners in order to spot future guests to be invited to eat at the adult table.
