St George’s Day 2021!

It was one of our favourite days of the year at Earls Hall today as the school came out in force in order to celebrate St George’s Day! The children all came to school dressed to impress, wearing either red and white, knights outfits, princess or dragon costumes or by donning a costume of a famous English historical figure. There were red and white balloons on show and bunting in order to ensure the site looked the part.

At various times of the day each class watched ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ being performed at ‘Last Night of the Proms’ and the children were reminded about the story of St George. In the Foundation Stage, many of the children decided to paint dragons or build them out of Lego whilst other year groups role played the story, simply retold it or made flags. Having not been together last year on the day, due to lockdown, it was smashing to have the whole school take part in the festivities as usual.

Aside from the St George celebrations there was the usual range of activities on display. A group of children from Beech helped sweep out the goat enclosure, whilst a group of children from Foxes were chosen to take Mabel for a walk around the school grounds.

In the afternoon, whilst the children from Oak planted vegetable seeds, the children from 6J and 6C played two separate games of rounders on the field.
