It was a proud day for the school, both in terms of music and sport. The day saw two teams of children from KS2 represent the school at the Southend inter-schools cricket competition.

It was a wonderful day for cricket in terms of weather, team spirit, co-operation and sportsmanship. In the morning our girls team beat West-Leigh and then beat Prince Avenue in the quarter-final before being pitted against the team from Temple Sutton in the semi-final and winning. The final saw the team play against Bournes Green  and it was a nail biting finish but with some outstanding fielding our girls won by eleven runs making them Southend champions! The girls will now go on to play in the Essex finals on Monday in Billericay.

The boys were a credit to themselves and the school in the afternoon. They played against Thorpe Hall and Fairways, both matches were tightly fought, however Earls Hall won both matches and won their group. In the quarter finals against Heycroft, it was again a thrilling and nail biting match with sixes and fours being scored and catches being taken.   The opposition had to score one run of the last ball which they did so meaning Earls Hall lost the quarter final by just one run. They went on to play a friendly match and secured a victory over West Leigh. Well done to all of the children who represented the school, we are proud of you!

Meanwhile, back in school, the children in Year Two were given a challenge in their ‘Forest Friends’ sessions. Traction Man, who they have been learning about in class, had found himself stuck in various tricky places around the woods and the children had to work in teams to design ways to rescue him.

In the evening the Cliffs Pavilion played host to this years South East Essex Schools Music Association music festival for KS2. Our choir sang alongside children from a wide range of other schools and sang beautifully to the delight of proud parents, other family members and staff. Our timbrel group, the only one of its kind in Southend, also dazzled the audience with a performance. Well done to all of the children who represented the school, we are proud of you!
