It was a fabulous day for the children in Robins today as they represented the school at this years Southend Dance Festival! Hosted by our friends at Alleyn Court, the morning saw children from schools across the city take to the outside stage in order to entertain the audience. Our children, the youngest pupils at the festival, dazzled on stage as they danced their way through their routine to the song ‘I just can’t wait to be King’ from The Lion King. The children all moved beautifully in time to the music and tried so hard that the teachers came back to school choked with pride. As the event was a pupil only one, at the end of the afternoon, the children repeated their routine in the downstairs hall where they were joined by a host of proud parents and other family members. The children once again put on a fantastic performance which left the parents clapping and cheering. What a wonderful way to end the day! Well done children, we are proud of you! A video of the performance at the festival will be uploaded for parents via tapestry tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who came along to join in with the fun this afternoon.

Meanwhile, as the children in Hawks created the prototypes of their pneumatic flowers and the children in Badgers enjoyed coding in the computer suite, there was plenty of sports action to see outside. The children in Year Five took part in football matches or developed their throwing and sprinting skills whilst the children in Oak took part in a tennis lesson.

In the morning, the Cabin had been a hive of activity as the children took part in an extended writing session. Based on the story ‘The Snail and the Whale’, the children had planned their own version of a story with a similar structure which they then used to write a series of sentences. The children were all enjoying the challenge of writing extended pieces and there were smiles all round as they shared their achievements with each other.
