The start of the week was as busy as ever today! The morning started with children from Foundation Stage and KS1 being rewarded for their reading efforts as part of our latest ‘Reading Champions’ assembly in the downstairs hall. The children who were being presented with their gold badges for reading over one hundred times at home were watched by their proud family members as they took to the front of the hall. A group of children who were identified by the teachers as behaving beautifully throughout the entire assembly were given the privilege of going to play with Rodney as a reward.

Parents were also guests in the Year One classes this morning as the children demonstrated their storytelling skills by reciting an innovated version of an adventure based on the message in a bottle hook which was recently introduced in assembly. Meanwhile, in the finance office, Mrs Rick was joined by one of our governors, Mr White, for their monthly finance meeting.

Out on the playground the children from Hedgehogs, Robins and Dormice took part in the first of this weeks ‘Bikeability’ sessions. The instructors introduced the children to special balance bikes with no peddles as an introduction to the weeks course which aims to empower the children to ride their bikes with confidence.

At lunchtime Mrs Critoph led the Year Two ‘Recorder Club’ where the children perfected the playing of the note B by playing ‘BB Blues’ in unison.

In the afternoon Mr B gave a tour of the school to a group of former pupils from the 1950’s and 60’s. The group enjoyed looking round their old stamping ground and the memories came flooding back thick and fast!
