Reading Champions & Music Review!

It was a day of celebrating effort today. The morning started with the children in KS1 rewarding the efforts of children reading at home by presenting them with their ‘Reading champions’ badges. The children who had reached gold and platinum status were watched by their proud parents and other family members who were all invited to the assembly to share their success. Well done to all of the children who were presented with their badges for their reading, we are proud of you. At the end of the assembly two children were chosen to carry out the special job of feeding the school Giant African Snails as a reward for showing respect and sitting quietly whilst their friends were presented with badges.

Later in the day the children in Year Two were inspired by the recent royal wedding to conduct interviews with some of the children who were in role of the couple or special guests. The children will use the interview experience to write up a report about the day.

In the afternoon the downstairs hall played host for another one of our music reviews where we celebrated various musical groups in school. The session started with Mr B and the Foundation Stage choir who sang ‘Clap your Hands, Wiggle your Feet’ and ‘In the Jungle’ whilst Mr B strummed on his guitar. Next, it was the turn of the KS1 choir who sang four songs under the direction of Mrs Bowden before Mrs Critoph and Mrs Trower led the beginners recorders group who played a number of songs which delighted the parents. Well done to all of the children who took part, we are proud of you.
