It was a special day at Earls Hall today as we celebrated the children’s efforts in reading by presenting the very first of this years ‘Reading Champions’ with their bronze badges! Launched at the point of our Foundation Stage children starting with us full time, the champions scheme has seen the children read at least twenty five times at home and so today, in recognition of this excellent start to the year, dozens of children from across all year groups were rewarded with their badges in assembly. More and more badges will be presented in the coming weeks and more children reach this milestone before many of them going on to become ‘Ultimate Reading Champions’ by the end of the year. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Also in our ‘Celebration Assemblies’ we presented a child from each class with an ‘Earls Hall Star’ certificate in recognition of their individual effort and achievement. Well done to all of the children presented with certificates today, we are proud of you.

As the children in Year One enjoyed exploring their outdoor playground, down in the Foundation Stage, the children in Hedgehogs welcomed a special pupil into their classroom in the form of Mabel the school dog. The children have been showing an interest in animals and so today Mabel spent time in class being pampered by the children as they asked Mrs Rick lots of questions about how she needs to be looked after.

In the upstairs hall, Mr B was helped by some children from 6CW to begin sorting out the harvest donations. Half of the donations of tinned and dried goods are being packed and sent to the Southend Foodbank whilst the other half will be stored over in the Woodland Diner as part of our up and coming ‘Earls Hall Food for All’ initiative which will provide families with essentials, both tinned, frozen and fresh, as and when they need it.
