It was another exciting day for sport at Earls Hall today as a group of children from across upper KS2 represented the school at this years Quad Kids competition. Hosted by Garons, the competition saw the children take part in four events consisting of a 70m sprint, standing long jump, howler throw and a 600m run. All of our athletes did brilliantly and the day saw Ozzie finishing in third place overall and alfie finish in second place. The whole team came fourth place out of eighteen schools. Well done children, we are proud of you!

Down in Robins, some of the children’s chrysalis’ were ready to move to the butterfly net as they are going to transform into butterflies soon. There are still two caterpillars left in the pot who are still growing! The children got to have a really close look at the chrysalis before they were transferred to the net. In the garden, the children were having a fantastic time in the mud kitchen. They decorated the wooden throne by pushing mud onto it and getting it to stick and moulding spikes that stuck out of the top. Then they pressed stones into the mud as decorative gems. Other children enjoyed looking for bugs and found lots of snails, a spider and a worm. Some children became chefs in a restaurant cooking up some spaghetti pasta and others challenged themselves to dig a tunnel as far as they could.

In the afternoon, as a group of children from Woodpeckers enjoyed playing with the guinea pigs over in the Cabin, 6CW enjoyed an afternoon of science. They were investigating lung capacity by displacing water from a two litre bottle. The children also measured each others heights.

Outside, the children in Aspen used their Forest Friends session to design, play and then teach their own games to others, showing great team work, listening  and evaluating skills  whilst the children in Kestrels made volcanoes and using a washing up liquid bottle, vinegar and bicarb mix. There was great excitement when they erupted the volcanoes!
