It was a busy day for the children in Year Five today as they ventured out of school in order to visit Priory Park. The children walked from school to the park where they continued to develop their understanding of the history of our local area by investigating the park.

They used their knowledge of primary and secondary sources when finding out information about the history of the site, took notes about key dates and names, observed changes in the park over time and composed a series of questions based on their visit which they will investigate further when back at school.

Meanwhile, back in school, the children in the Foundation Stage took part in a PE lesson in the downstairs hall. They tried to balance their bodies using a number of different points and worked together to understand how to move equipment, such as mats, safely by working as part of a team.

At lunchtime the children enjoyed helpings of Mrs Warren-Hardy’s delicious chicken pie and Mr B was joined by a number of children at the centre table who he had witnessed displaying excellent manners in the Woodland Diner.

In the afternoon the children in Dormice were mark making in self made slime whilst, in the IT suite, the children from Year Six created their own animated films on the laptops.

After school Mr Smith hosted his indoor athletics club in the hall where the children developed their triple jump skills and took part in a circuit of other jumping activities. It was a fun way to end another busy day!
