It was a smelly start to a shortened week following the bank holiday celebrations as the children in Squirrels used their Forest Friends session to investigate their senses. The children worked in groups to explore the woods where they used their touch, hearing and sight to identify different natural resources and materials. They came together and discussed what items felt like and identified the sounds that they heard in the woods. They then used smell pots where Miss Chandler had a range of different items from outside covered in jars and the children had to try and identify them by simply giving each jar a sniff.

Meanwhile, having played host to our early morning snooker club before school, the downstairs hall was full of children in Hedgehogs all eager to learn about the concept of a fair race. Mrs Gillard, in her role of one of our PE leaders, explained to the children about starting at an equal point and all crossing the finishing line having tried to race at their fastest speed before the children all had a go at taking part in some simple races.

Over in the hen house, Miss Kelly was assisted by a group of children from Robins who collected the eggs and gave the birds food and water.
